Travertine

TURKISH TRAVERTINE

Turkish Travertine is a type of limestone deposited by mineral springs, particularly hot springs. It is known for its porous texture, created by gas bubbles trapped during its formation, which can be filled or left unfilled for a more natural look. This stone is celebrated for its durable nature and timeless beauty, featuring a wide spectrum of colors from warm tans and beiges to rustic reds and browns.

Where Can Turkish Travertine Be Used?

Turkish Travertine tiles and pavers are available in various sizes, making them versatile for indoor and outdoor applications, including floors, walls, and patios. They are available in various textures such as, sandblasted, brushed, tumbled and many more. Additionally, travertine split face ledger panels offer a textured, three-dimensional look ideal for accent walls or backsplashes, while pool copings with bullnose or eased edges provide a smooth, rounded finish for pool edges, enhancing safety and aesthetics.

Why Are Travertine Pavers a Popular Choice for Outdoor Applications?

Travertine pavers are very popular for outdoor applications for several reasons:

Slip Resistance: Travertine has a naturally porous surface that provides grip, making it less slippery when wet compared to other materials. This feature is particularly important for areas like pools, patios, and walkways, where safety is a concern.

Durability: Travertine is a hard, dense material that withstands weathering and wear. It is capable of handling extreme temperature fluctuations without cracking, making it suitable for various climates.

Cool Surface: Unlike some other materials, travertine does not absorb as much heat under direct sunlight, keeping the surface relatively cooler and more comfortable to walk on during hot days.

Aesthetic Appeal: Besides safety and functional benefits, travertine pavers offer a unique and natural aesthetic with a variety of colors and patterns. This enhances the visual appeal of outdoor spaces while providing a non-slip surface.

Ease of Replacement: In the event a paver does get damaged, it can be easily replaced without having to redo the entire area. This maintainability adds to its safety and longevity as an outdoor flooring option.

Travertine Grades:

If you are considering travertine pavers as your primary choice for your backyard, keep in mind that there are three different grades of travertine when it comes to quality:

Premium Grade (First Grade): The highest quality selections quarried then hand selected through rigorous inspection protocols post fabrication. Premium Select will have minimal pitting, consistent color range and no visible flaws.

Standard Grade (Second Grade): Excellent overall quality but will have more pitting and color variation than the premium select.

Commercial Grade (Third Grade): The lowest grade and will have visible flaws, larger more pronounced pitting, and often an inconsistent color range.

At EKM Stone, we are only offering you what's best. Therefore, our travertine pavers collections are in Premium Grade.
